2021 (Expected)

Under the guidance of Associate Professor Anna Thompson (nee Carr), and Professor Tara Duncan, Kelsey is undertaking her doctoral studies at the University of Otago, funded by a Doctoral Scholarship from the Graduate Research School. Her research examines the culture of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) participation in New Zealand and explores the convergence and divergence of programmatic, host, and guest values, and the role of food in the WWOOFing experience. Her work draws on the fields of tourism, anthropology, and geography.

Kelsey achieved Early Confirmation at her six month Progress Meeting and moved to confirmed candidature status. In April 2015, she completed phase two of her ethnographic fieldwork, which involved seven months of WWOOFing on the South Island of New Zealand. Kelsey's thesis is under external examination.
