Community Engagement

 

Kelsey is passionate about service. In addition to being actively engaged in the University Community, through service on a number of administrative Committees, Kelsey has always volunteered personally and professionally within the wider communities in which she lives. Her involvement with a select number of organisations are outlined below.

Current Affiliations

National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP)

In August 2019, Kelsey was appointed the League Commissioner for the National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP) League. 

National Collegiate Water Polo aims to be the Premiere University Water Polo event for Women in Canada.

In this role, Kelsey liaises with University Teams and Coaches,  and coordinated League play, including the Annual Championship and Awards ceremony.

Voyageur Trail Association

Kelsey is a long standing member of the the Voyageur Trail Association,  and serves on the Coordinating Council as the Editor of the VTA Newsletter and as Social Media Coordinator. Previously, she served as the Publicity Director and Social Media Coordinator on the VTA Coordinating Council from 2010 to 2016. Her prior roles includes President of the Marathon Club (Marathon, Canada; 2010 - 2011), and founding President of the Nor'wester Voyageur Trail Club (Thunder Bay, Canada; 2011 - 2013). Manitoba Water Polo Association

From 2017 to 2019, Kelsey served as the High Performance Director of the Manitoba Water Polo Association. In this role, she coordinated High Performance, and Sport Development, Camps in conjunction with Water Polo Canada, and with support from local Clubs. In this role, she also joined Team Sask's Coaching Staff when they fielded 16U Boys and 16U Girls teams to compete in the Golden State Championships and NorAm Cup at the University of the Pacific (California, USA) in July 2017.

Neptunes Water Polo Club

Kelsey served as the 16U Boys National Championship League (NCL) coach for the 2016 - 2017 season. Prior to this, she was the 14U Boys NCL Assistant Coach.

Dog Rescue Dunedin

Kelsey was a volunteer dog trainer and respite walker responsible for obedience training with the dogs placed in foster homes. She also socialized the dogs, with people and other animals, to increase their likelihood of adoption and to give foster homes a break. Marathon
Humane Society

From 2010 - 2011, Kelsey was involved with the Marathon Humane Society Shelter in Marathon, Canada. Her role included voluntary work as a dog walker and foster home, and taking weekly rotations at the Shelter to feed the shelter dogs and cats, visit with the cats in the cat rooms, and clean the cat rooms and dog kennels.

Marathon Silver
Pikes Swim Team

Kelsey was a volunteer coach for the Marathon Silver Pikes Swim Team for the 2010 - 2011 season. Her coaching responsibilities included the Adult Triathletes and Junior Girls teams; she developed and implemented a seasonal training plan for both groups, and coordinated twice-weekly swim workouts based on pre-season training goals established in consultation with the athletes and Head Coach.
