Agricultural Tourism
Kelsey's doctoral work focuses on the exchange of cultural and food related knowledge through the Willing Workers on Organic Farms program in New Zealand. Drawing on seven months of phenomenology-based ethnographic fieldwork, Kelsey's research examines the culture of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) participation in New Zealand, exploring the convergence and divergence of organisational, host and guest values, and the role of food and cultural exchange in shaping participants' experiences of the WWOOFing while drawing on the fields of tourism, anthropology, and geography.
Kelsey's emerging work in this area focuses on:
-
kitchen table tourism,
-
sustainability narratives, local food, and food festivals, and
-
food and slow tourism.
